Didomi is expanding to new markets across the world

didomi-new-market-map

Didomi is expanding to 11 new markets worldwide, with the aim to help businesses tackle their local and international regulatory challenges with our consent and preference management solutions.

Thanks to our European roots and extensive experience with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), we’re able to provide comprehensive tools to address any opt-in-based consent and privacy regulation.

Here’s a quick look at the 11 new countries we’re addressing:

Australia

Didomi's Consent Management Platform (CMP) helps companies approach The Privacy Act 1988 of Australia.

Australia’s main piece of privacy legislation, the Privacy Act 1988 was created to streamline the protection and the handling of personal information of Australian individuals. It outlines the laws regarding the collection, use, storage and disclosure of personal information in the federal public sector and the private sector.

Singapore

We also help businesses abide by Singapore’s Personal Data Protection Act (PDPA).

In place since 2012, the PDPA has been updated in 2021 and provides guidelines to organizations handling consumer data on how to collect, use, disclose and process personal data related to Singaporean citizens.

Canada

In Canada, businesses must comply with the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA).

Didomi can help you understand and get PIPEDA-ready. This Canadian federal privacy law provides guidelines to companies in the private sector on how to handle personal information, with the objective of implementing powerful protection over the personal information of the country’s citizens.

Brazil

The Lei Geral de Proteção de Dados (LGPD) aims to unify the 40+ Brazilian federal statutes that previously oversaw the personal data of Brazilians.

Although the two have significant differences, the LGPD was heavily influenced by Europe’s GDPR. Didomi can help companies with business in Brazil approach the regulation with confidence and get access to Latin America’s largest economy.

Mexico

Didomi is also helping businesses with the Ley Federal Mexicana de Protección de Datos Personales (LFPDPPP).

The Mexican law, in effect since 2010, applies to personal data processed, transferred or assigned by private persons or entities in Mexico.

India

For companies operating in India, Didomi can help preparing for the Information Technology (IT) Act and the Data Protection Bill (PDPB).

While the IT Act, which provides protection to personal and sensitive data online, was enacted in 2008, the Data Protection Bill has yet to be passed by the Indian Parliament. It could however come into force in the coming months, and will provide a comprehensive legal framework to protect the personal data of Indian citizens.

Japan

We’re providing solutions to tackle Japan’s Protection of Personal Information Act (APPI),

Originally adopted in 2003, the founding text in the Protection of Personal Information Act (APPI) was amended for the first time in 2017. It aims at “protecting the rights and interests of individuals while considering the usefulness of personal information, in particular for the establishment of new industries, the realization of a vibrant economic society and a better quality of life for the Japanese people.” (Article 1).

South Africa

A Consent Management Platform (CMP) can help you get ready for the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA) of South Africa.

The POPIA was enacted in 2013 and promotes the protection of personal information by private and public organizations in South Africa. Among other things, it provides guidelines for things such as unsolicited electronic communications and automated decision-making.

South Korea

Have you heard about the Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA)?

South Korea’s PIPA is governing the processing of personal data, providing safeguards, principles, rights and individual obligations to businesses handling South Korean data, in a similar fashion as the European GDPR. It’s worth noting that it is one of the strictest data protection regulations in the world completed by additional local regulations.

Indonesia

Finally, Didomi can also assist your privacy efforts in Indonesia.

While there is no specific data privacy regulation in Indonesia, other local laws (like the EIT law and the MOCI regulation) are establishing consent as a core foundation regarding personal data processing. The Indonesian House of Representatives is discussing a draft for a Personal Data Protection Act, which would be the very first comprehensive law in Indonesia that tackles the subject of protection of personal data.
